Dear Parents,

As the end of the term will soon draw near, we ask you to please note the following:

Collection basket for the needy
As we think of those who are not as fortunate as we are, we prepare items to donate to a local orphanage / alternative school. If you have good quality used clothes or toys, please gather them together to bring to school from the end of this month. A basket will be placed in front of the administrative building for collection from the last week of November until the end of term.

School Fair
Last year’s school fair was a big success and a day of amusement for all. La Maison de l’Espérance alternative school and orphanage are benefiting greatly from the supplies purchased with proceeds from the event, and our own students are enjoying the new books purchased for the library. We look forward to forming an active School Fair Committee and to strong EFG (E.I.S. Family Group) participation this year. Kindly leave your name and contact details with the school secretary so an organizational meeting can be planned.

Yearbook
It is now time to appeal to your creative talent and photography skills as we invite you to take an active role in working on the 2012 – 2013 school yearbook. Please send a note in to your child’s teacher if you are interested in being a part of the Yearbook Committee.

Capoeira Batizado – Saturday, 1st December, 16:00, Centre Culturel Chinois
There will be a ceremony during which students in the Capoeira Group (after-school activity) will receive their cords, which indicates their having achieved the first or second level of grading. The ceremony / presentation will involve demonstrations of this Brazilian martial art / dance with music and singing. You are welcome to come out to support our children and be entertained.

Performance – Thursday, 6th December, 9:00 a.m. in the Lower School Garden
Children in Reception – Year 3 plan to put all in the holiday spirit with their West African version of The Elves and the Shoemaker. We look forward to your presence at this performance.

Reports Out – 6th December and Child Progress Conferences – 7th December

Presents
In the spirit of the season, we follow the tradition of giving presents at the end of term. A ‘Secret Santa’ draw will take place in Middle and Upper School classes, with children pulling out the names of those for whom they will buy gifts. The suggested amount is 5,000 francs cfa. For the Pre-School and Lower School, notice will be sent out by teachers as to how the gifts will be handled. All presents should be brought to school no later than Friday. 7th December. They will be given out on the last morning of term (Tuesday, 11th December).

Thanks to Mr. Knudsen (EFG) for organizing a fun friendly football match for Years 10 and 11 students and parents, with refreshments for all on Sunday evening (11th November).
