Dear Parents,

As we have reached the mid-point of November and are soon to see only three weeks remaining in the first term of the school year, I call your attention to the following upcoming events:

Interschool Debate Contest, First Phase – Wednesday, 20th November 2013

A team of three students from each of our schools (Lower, Middle, Upper) will participate in the Debate Contest, organised by the American Cultural Centre.  We wish the students good luck and inspiration for the occasion.

Years 4 & 5 Performance – Friday, 6th December 2013, 18:00

In the spirit of the Christmas season, Years 4 & 5 will perform a Nativity play in the Lower School Garden.  The running time of the performance will be just under one hour.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Reports Out and Child Progress Conferences

Reports will go out on Thursday, 5^th December.  Please note that the date of the Child Progress Conferences has been changed to Monday, 9^th December (due to the performance on the 6^th).  Lower and Middle School teachers will send out appointment letters closer to the date.  Upper School teachers will meet with parents in turn on the evening.

School Arrival and Dismissal

We ask your consideration regarding the guards’ instructions to keep a smooth flow of traffic (no reversing of vehicles).  The guards have also been instructed to only raise the security barrier for residents entering and leaving.  Such instructions are given for the safety of our children and also out of respect for our neighbours.  Kindly request the cooperation of your drivers on this issue.  The school dismissal time for children not participating in After-School Activities is 2:45 p.m.  Please make sure that your children are picked up promptly.

Teaching Change in Years 2 & 3

As was explained in letters to Years 2 & 3 parents on 6^th and 8^th November, Mrs. Fatmé Baalbaki had to relinquish her duties as Class Teacher to return to Lebanon with her son who had become ill.  Mrs. Genevieve Akinwumi has taken over as Class Teacher of Years 2 & 3.  We wish the best in medical care for Mrs. Fatmé’s son and hope for his complete recovery.
