English International School Newsletter of the 13rd June 2023

Dear Parents,

As the academic year draws to a close, I call your attention to the following information and reminders:

E.I.S. Sports/Talent Day

A grand time was had by all this morning as the entire school participated in fun races and games in the spirit of fine sportsmanship. The sports events were interspersed with dance and music performances by various age groups. We were thankful for clement skies and were able to finish all activities before the threat of rain became noticeable.

Cambridge International Examinations

The results for externally moderated Checkpoint Examinations for Years 6 and 9 are out. Congratulations are in order for a fine performance of E.I.S. students overall. Parents will be contacted to retrieve their children’s official certificates once they will have arrived in school from Cambridge. IGCSE and AS/A-level results are to be released in August. Years 11 – 13 students are aware of how to retrieve their results.

E.I.S. Yearbook

The 2022 – 2023 Yearbook is now out and can be purchased for the price of 15,000 fcfa at the school secretary’s office. We regret the error in the price stated in the Newsletter of 14th June. The printer, after taking into account the number of pages, informed us of the need to increase the price due to inflation. We apologise for any inconvenience this change may have caused. We thank upper school students, Mrs. Magdalene and Mr. Tonji for their efforts in completing the task before the end of the year.

Public Holiday – Eid al Adha

Although it has been noted on our school calendar as 28th June, we will all listen out for the official announcement of this moveable feast to know exactly on which date school will be closed.

Please note that the last day of school for Playschool and Nursery children will be on Tuesday, 27th June. Reception through Year 2 children are likely to have their last day in school on Thursday, 29th June.

Last Day of Term / Prize Giving for Years 3 – 13: Friday, 30th June, Institut Français Paillote

We close out the academic year on this day with a farewell ceremony (from 10:00 – 11:30), during which we reflect on the academic year, award prizes and wish our university bound students good luck. We will ask parents to kindly take their children directly to the Institut Français by 9:30. Children will need to be collected from the Institut Français immediately following the ceremony.

School Uniform and Equipment

Whilst looking ahead to the next academic year, please refer to the school website’s Uniform and Equipment section to make sure that your child will be appropriately attired and adequately prepared.

The school calendar for Academic Year 2023 – 2024 is out and should be consulted when making travel plans. Please note that the next academic year will begin on Thursday, 14th September 2023.
