English International School Newsletter of the 14th February 2020

Dear Parents,

As we approach the second half of the second trimester, I would like to remind you of my availability to meet with parents, should any questions or concerns arise.  If you wish to meet, kindly call the school secretary to arrange an appointment.  Arranging a meeting with your child’s teacher should also be done through the secretary or through the Homework Agenda, as it is imperative that teachers’ attention remain on the children during lessons. The teachers and I welcome your input and feedback and we count on your collaboration to maintain a healthy and productive learning environment for our children.

E.I.S. Model United Nations (MUN)

Upper School students have been working hard over the past months to organise an internal MUN, which will take place on Thursday, 20th February. We encourage them in this endeavour and look forward to reporting on the success of the event and the opportunity it provides for students to learn about diplomacy, international relations and the functioning of the United Nations.

Ten Years of Afro-Brazilian Capoeira at E.I.S.

The after-school Capoeira Club will celebrate their 10th anniversary with the visit of E.I.S. alumni capoeirists on Thursday afternoon from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Both Monday (senior) and Thursday (junior) capoeira groups will join together for an exciting roda with music and song.

International Mother Language Day - 21st February

This date in February was proclaimed by UNESCO in November 1999 in an effort to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. We are pleased to honour it in our international school and discuss its significance in classes.

Swimming Gala

The Swimming Gala is scheduled to take place on Friday, 6th March.

Yearbook – Class Photos

Class photos for the Yearbook are being taken in school. Please make sure that your child is neatly dressed in correct uniform attire at all times.

School Fair – Saturday, 21st March 2020,  16:00 – 19:30 on the School Field

The time is here to plan the delicious dishes which will be brought out on the day.  Kindly return the forms sent out to indicate your participation in this community charity event. Last year’s fair was a big success, and we look forward to more of the same for this year.
