Dear Parents,

We congratulate our Years 10 and 11 students on their fine performance of Shakespeare’s, The Merchant of Venice.  It was a pleasure to see many of you in the audience in support of their efforts on the lovely evening of Friday, 12th May.

As we approach the halfway mark of our third term, please make note of the following:

Half-term Break:  Thursday and Friday, 18th and 19th May

Classes will resume on Monday, 22nd May.

Public Holiday – Thursday, 25th May: Ascension

School will be closed on this day.

International Capoeira Festival

E.I.S. capoeirists will have the opportunity to meet and play capoeira with the honoured guests of the Festival (one of whom is an E.I.S. alumnus) during their after-school capoeira activity. They will receive the programme of the week’s events (23rd – 28th May), the high point of which will be the Batizado (awarding of cords) to be held at the Chinese Cultural Centre on Saturday, 27th May, starting at 15:00.  All are welcome to attend.

Cambridge International Progression Tests:  29th , 30th and 31st May

Children in Years 3 – 5 and 7 – 8 will be tested in English, Mathematics and Science.  Teachers have informed the children of this.  These tests, which assess the learning objectives from the relevant stage of the Curriculum Framework, allow teachers to follow the progress of their students over time and analyse performance within their classes and against a standardised international cohort.  They are marked internally and can be used to provide diagnostic feedback for each class and each child.

As the rainy season is upon us, we appreciate your cooperation in helping to keep our school road safe by reminding drivers to let off children at the barrier as usual.  On rainy mornings, after parking the car, they may escort children down the side path with umbrellas.  Being prepared with rain gear in the car is essential during this period of the year.
