Dear Parents,

The past few weeks have been quite eventful at school due to the following:

The gold and silver success of our student debaters at the finals of the Interschool Debate Contest – Season 2014-2015 at the American Cultural Centre

• The Globe Theatre of London performing Hamlet on our school field
• Our special observance of International Women’s Day
• Swimming Gala
• The Senior (Sunday) Football/Soccer team win (3-2) over King Amachree School

We are proud of our students and wish them much continued success in the academic and extra-curricular realms.

As we now approach the end of term, I give you the following dates and reminders for your diaries:

School Fair – Saturday, 21st March, on the School Field from 15:00 – 19:00

Our big community event is tomorrow.  The Fair committee has been working hard and many of you have come forward with wonderful contributions, for which we are most grateful.  We look forward to seeing all there to enjoy the fun games, delicious food, entertainment and grand tombola (raffle).  The School Fair proceeds will go to the charities we regularly support: Sainta Rita Orphanage and La Maison de l’Espérance and to our Amnesty Club’s project charity, Segbeya School for the Blind.

World Water Day – 22nd March

The international observance of World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  We have acknowledged this day in school, even though it falls on a Sunday this year.  We encourage parents to explore and discuss this day’s importance at home to reinforce the focus placed on it in school.  This year’s theme is Water and Sustainable Development.

Child Progress Conferences – Monday, 23rd March

Child Progress Conferences will be held on this day for all parents.  Lower and Middle School teachers have sent out appointment slips to correspond with their desired meeting times.  Upper School teachers will meet with parents in turn in the evening from 17:00 – 19:30, or at previously arranged appointment times.

Fancy Hat Parade and Last Day of Term (Half day) – Friday, 27th March

It has been a tradition in school to mark the last day of the second term with a Fancy Hat Parade involving children in all years.  We look forward to seeing family members join us in appreciating the creativity of our children.  The event will start at 8:30 and end around 10:00.  Swimming Gala awards will also be given out on this day.

School will end at 12:00 noon, but parents of pre-school children may feel free to leave with them after the parade.
