Dear Parents,

The academic year 2023 – 2024 is drawing to a close. Please note the following information:

E.I.S. Sports Days

Early Years, Lower School, and Middle and Upper Schools each had their day this week of fun games, challenges, team spirit and music under clement skies (for the most part). A grand time was had by all. Thanks go out to our sports teachers, class teachers, and student council members who pulled all together. Congratulations to our children, of all ages, who displayed good cooperative spirit, stamina and a love of physical activity.

Cambridge International Examinations

The results for externally moderated Checkpoint Examinations for Years 6 and 9 are out, and they are certainly pleasing overall, being significantly above the international average, with most in the Outstanding and High range. Children will take home their Statements of Achievement on Monday. Parents will be contacted to retrieve their children’s official certificates once they will have arrived in school from Cambridge. Congratulations are in order for the students and teachers. IGCSE and AS/A-level results are to be released in August. Years 11 – 13 students are aware of how to retrieve their results.

E.I.S. Yearbook

The 2023 – 2024 Yearbook is soon to be out and can be purchased for the price of 15,000 fcfa at the school secretary’s office. Orders made with payment will be honoured. Students of the Yearbook Committee and Mr. Trust Tonji have put in hard work, and we thank them for their efforts in completing the task before the end of the year.

International Abacus Olympiad

We congratulate E.I.S. children who took part in this online mental maths competition. We have just received word from the International Abacus Olympiad Foundation of their “exceptional performance,” with a promise of certificates and awards to be posted to our school by September.

Last Day of Term / Prize Giving for Years 3 – 13: Friday, 28th June, Chinese Cultural Centre

We close out the academic year on this day with a farewell ceremony (from 10:00 – 11:30), during which we reflect on the academic year, award prizes and wish our university bound students good luck. We will ask parents to kindly take their children directly to the Chinese Cultural Centre by 9:30.

Please note that the last day of school for Playschool through Year 2 children will be on Thursday, 27th June.

School Uniform and Equipment

Whilst looking ahead to the next academic year, please refer to the school website’s Uniform and Equipment section to make sure that your child will be appropriately attired and adequately prepared.

The school calendar for Academic Year 2024 – 2025 is out and should be consulted when making travel plans. Please note that the next academic year will begin on Monday, 16th September 2024.
