English International School Newsletter of the 5th December 2022

Dear Parents,

We thank you for your contributions to our collection for children in need. They will be grateful to receive our donations. The items collected will be delivered to the designated orphanage / school at the end of term and there will be follow-up at the start of next term with the visits of certain students.

Please note the following information and reminders:

Mock Examinations for Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A-level

Mock examinations began today and will continue through Friday, 9th December. Years 11 – 13 parents have received letters regarding the exams. We wish our students good luck!

Drama Club Presentation

We congratulate the Drama Club for their powerful presentation of the lives of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks on the afternoon of 1st December. We also thank the parents for their support of this after-school activity event.

Reports Out and Child Progress Conferences

Reports will go out on Friday, 9th December.  Teachers have begun setting times with parents for Child Progress Conferences to be held either in school, by phone or virtually.

E.I.S. Yearbook of 2021 – 2022

Following two years of having the E.I.S. Yearbook available online only due to the COVID-19 situation, the school Yearbook Committee have produced a printed copy available for purchase through order and pre-payment. The cost is 12,500 fcfa. Payment should be made to the school secretary.

Preparing for next term

In preparing for next term, I refer you to the Uniform and Equipment section of our school website. Please devote ample time to making sure that your child has the correct uniform and footwear, and that your child will be ready to come to school neatly dressed and groomed. It is important to note that certain hair attachments/styles are not appropriate for school and could be hazardous when working in the science laboratory. We also continue to recommend reusable water flasks for students, which are more practical and environmentally friendly.

Last Day of Term – Tuesday, 13th December (Half-day)

The last day of term will be a half-day, with all classes ending at 11:45 a.m. Children will be allowed to come to school in mufti, wearing colours of red, white and green.

Please note that the new term will begin at 8:00 on Thursday, 5th January 2023.
