Curriculum
The curriculum is broadly based using English as the language of instruction and the British National Curriculum and that of Cambridge International Schools as a framework.
Pre-school Curriculum
Playschool and Nursery are based on Montessori principles, which encourage children to explore, learn and develop skills through play and discovery. Self-expression is developed through drawing, painting, modelling, cutting, pasting, music, singing and dance. Students are encouraged to express their wants and needs while beginning to understand the need to take turns and follow rules. The focus in Playschool is on developing fine and gross motor skills, colour and shape recognition, sorting and matching, social skills and the discovery and manipulation of their environment through play. The Nursery Curriculum consolidates and extends these skills with emphasis on pre-reading and pre-writing skills.
Lower School Curriculum (Reception to Year 5)
The students study a broad curriculum, which includes English, Mathematics, French, Science, History, Geography, Art, Design, Technology, Information Technology, Physical Education, Music and Dance. The Reception class and Year 1 follow the British National Curriculum and from Years 2 to 5, in English, Mathematics and Science, the students follow the Cambridge International Primary Programme and the British National Curriculum in all other subjects.
Middle School Curriculum (Year 6 to 9)
Students follow the Cambridge International Examination Curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science and follow the British National Curriculum in French, History, Geography Art and Physical Education. Music and Drama is also taught and the students are encouraged to use Information Technology across the curriculum. Students in the Middle School are able to choose from a range of activities including tennis, swimming, team games and dance.
Upper School Curriculum (Year 10 to 13)
The Senior School accommodates students from Years 10 to 13, and will prepare them to sit for the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE); IGCSE at the end of Year 11, AS-levels at the end of Year 12 and A-levels at the end of Year 13. The school is a Cambridge International Examinations test centre and these examinations are recognised for university entrance world wide. AS-level or A-level examinations can lead to advanced placement at university. Non examination subjects are considered vitally important to the holistic development of the student and subjects include music, drama, dance and sporting components.
